Senior Accountant (m/f/d)
Doodle serves 25M+ monthly visitors today as one of the world’s most popular scheduling tools. We’re known for our simple polls and calendar links to make finding a time easy. Our mission: Evolve Doodle into the AI-first scheduling core that does the work for users and teams globally.
Your mission: Be the right hand of our Head of Accounting – keep our general ledger, our close and our payroll rock-solid while the company grows fast and thinks big. You’ll be part of our Finance team based in Berlin.
We’d love to meet you if you know the general ledger inside out and close the books with confidence – and you’re just as happy to roll up your sleeves in day-to-day operations. You understand payroll end-to-end: not just the postings, but what’s taxable and why. You enjoy turning complex rules into clean, compliant and efficient processes.
This role is key to our mission of scaling sustainably and giving every team clarity and confidence in their financial decisions. If you’re motivated by impact, eager to improve how things are done, and excited to grow with us – we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
General ledger & closing
Own the demanding part of the bookkeeping for the Doodle Group (currently 3 companies): accruals, revenue recognition, bank postings, intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Be a key player in our monthly fast close (workday 3) and prepare the P&L and balance sheet, including all account reconciliations
Support the year-end closing under local GAAP, the monthly reporting to our main shareholder for consolidation, and our external audits
Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT and sales tax returns and work closely with our local tax advisors
Payroll & payroll tax compliance
Be Accounting’s payroll expert: review, post and reconcile the payroll prepared by our external payroll providers (local tax advisors)
Assess the wage tax and social security treatment of benefits, team events, non-cash compensation and other employee-related costs – and be the go-to partner for HR on these questions
Help shape the move of payroll ownership into Accounting: set up compliant processes, controls and documentation so that payroll is always settled tax-compliantly
Accounts receivable & daily operations
Monitor the import of Chargebee invoices into NetSuite, resolve sync errors and make sure revenue and receivables are complete and correct
Take on accounts receivable tasks such as cash application and open-item management
Pitch in on day-to-day tasks, e.g. accounts payable and bank postings, whenever the team needs it
Treasury
Support treasury: cash management, liquidity planning and FX
Check payment runs for all our legal entities and set up the related intercompany transactions
Processes & projects
Make our accounting processes more efficient, using automation and AI
Support the implementation of new tools and processes together with the team
Report directly to the Head of Accounting, act as her right hand and support her on ad-hoc projects
What You’ll Bring
A degree in business with a focus on finance, or an apprenticeship in accounting with further training (e.g. Bilanzbuchhalter)
At least 5 years of experience as a general ledger accountant, ideally in an international company with multiple entities and foreign currencies
Proven closing experience: confident with monthly and year-end closings, balance sheets and reconciliations; solid HGB knowledge, IFRS is a plus
Strong payroll know-how: payroll accounting, wage tax and social security, and a clear view of what is taxable (benefits in kind, team events, allowances). Experience working with external payroll providers; Swiss payroll knowledge is a plus
Experience in treasury, e.g. cash management, liquidity planning and FX
Solid tax compliance background in VAT; experience with intercompany, consolidation and transfer pricing
Hands-on experience with Oracle NetSuite (strongly preferred) and excellent Excel skills; experience with Chargebee or other billing-system integrations is a plus
A hands-on mentality: you take on complex topics and daily operations alike
Extreme attention to detail and a strong sense of accuracy, while meeting deadlines
Fluent English and good German
Ability to work in a small matrix organisation and an international company; a team player who values a strong feedback culture
Experience in optimizing processes, using AI

Team & Culture
We're a tight-knit team of 100+ spread out over four different countries. We’ve got our home-base in Zurich and awesome offices in Berlin and Belgrade. We also have colleagues working remotely from the USA.
We’re not a huge company so our team structure enables us to quickly implement new ideas before they get stale on the corporate ladder. Everyone here is encouraged to contribute or experiment, and if we’re in agreement about a new decision we go for it.
