Own the Engineering. Make the Scheduling Magic happen.
At Doodle, we're building the future of scheduling and productivity, tackling complex challenges at the intersection of human collaboration and digital efficiency. We believe in crafting elegant solutions to intricate problems, and we're looking for a passionate frontend engineer who shares this drive. For you, this means leveraging modern web technologies to create intuitive, highly responsive user experiences that turn complexity into simplicity for millions of users.
You're more than a Frontend engineer; you're a feature owner, UX champion, and a continuous learner who thrives on shipping impactful user experiences. You'll contribute to our design system and component architecture, playing a pivotal role in making sure the frontend is accessible, blazing fast, and optimized for scale.
What you will do
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll be instrumental in shaping our application's future, focusing on architecture, performance, and the developer experience.
Architecture & Standards: Define the technical direction for our frontend stack. You'll lead the implementation and governance of our Design System and Component Library, ensuring modularity, consistency, and reusability across teams.
Performance Leadership: Own and enforce Core Web Vitals performance metrics. You'll be responsible for optimizing bundle sizes, build speeds, asset delivery, and implementing advanced rendering techniques like React Server Components (RSC) within the Next.js framework.
Data & State Strategy: Architect solutions for efficient and localized state. You'll champion using local component state and React Context sparingly, reserving specialized libraries for complex data flows. You will master and leverage the Apollo Client cache and GraphQL to handle API data fetching and synchronization.
Developer Experience (DX): Act as the internal customer for the frontend platform. You'll improve CI/CD pipeline efficiency, enhance local development tooling, and ensure high-quality documentation for the engineering organization.
Accessibility & UX: Champion Web Accessibility (WCAG) standards and ensure the user experience is intuitive, inclusive, and reliable across all devices and screen sizes.
Code Quality & Mentorship: Lead by example through rigorous code reviews and establishing best practices for testing, security, and clean architecture. You'll be an advocate for and enforce TypeScript best practices across the codebase, mentoring mid-level engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence.
Our Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an engineer who sees the frontend as a critical platform for product delivery and possesses deep, foundational knowledge.
System-Level Thinking: 6+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with at least 4 years hands-on with React and TypeScript in large-scale applications. You have deep architectural experience, demonstrated by having designed, owned, and successfully shipped complex, multi-system features that define the technical direction for a product area.
Performance Guru: Proven ability to diagnose and dramatically improve application performance under high load, with deep knowledge of browser runtime, network profiling, and modern optimization techniques.
Foundational Mastery: Possesses an expert-level understanding of Vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and the browser's core APIs. You can write robust, high-performance code without a framework and understand how frameworks like React work under the hood.
Data Flow Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of GraphQL, Apollo Client, and data caching strategies. You are experienced in designing efficient API contracts and minimizing unnecessary client-side state.
Communication & Influence: A track record of collaborating effectively with Product Managers and UX/UI Designers, translating business goals and user research into high-impact technical solutions.
